Imran Ali Baig, faculty, Department of Physical Education has been nominated as an Invited REFEREE by the International Basketball Federation.

(FIBA) for the Asian basketball championship for Under 18 (MEN) to be held at TEHRAN, IRAN from 22nd July to 31st July 2016.

He is one among 6 referees who have been nominated from China, Philippines, Korea, Lebanon, Kazakhstan and Japan.

The true purpose of education is to make minds and not careers. We encourage all our students to persevere, participate and take charge of their own development.

Our excellent results at the AISSE and AISSCE 2016   examinations are a testimony to the excellence of the teaching staff of a high caliber which strives to create a challenging learning environment. This helps our students get a good foundation for their further education. Rohan Rajesh Talesara  with 95.6% was the topper in the science stream. Sudakshina Bhattacharjee, topped the commerce stream with 97.6% and  Eshani Ashutosh Vaidya was the topper of the humanities stream with 94.4%. It gives me great pleasure to share with you that DPS Bangalore South is in the top 100 in AISSCE 2016 results of the CBSE schools all over India and we have also secured the 13th position in Inter DPS category. Sudakshina Bhattacharjee has secured the 3rd  position in the stream of Commerce across all CBSE Schools all over India and 5th position across all streams pan India. Congratulations to all the toppers!!!

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mrs. Anitha Bijesh as the Head Mistress of classes VI to XII and Mrs. Priya Mathu as the Head Mistress from Kindergarten to Class V. With their approachable and understanding nature and  outstanding knowledge of managing a school of this caliber and, perhaps most importantly, their vision for the future of this great school, we are confident that they will  lead the teaching and learning agenda with vision and rigour.

Teaching and learning process is mainly child centered and targets to prepare every individual for their career and to acquire adequate life skills. The school activities are planned and prepared meticulously, giving equal importance to academics and extra-curricular activities. In order to provide the students an opportunity to explore the world of Science beyond the classroom, a group of nine students visited CERN at Geneva, Switzerland for a week starting from  5th June to 12th June 2016. They got an opportunity to interact with renowned scientists and Nobel Laureates in the facility where research is conducted on Particle Physics. They visited the laboratories and witnessed the process  where the ions are accelerated and made to collide with each other, which recreates the conditions just after the Big Bang, and are then studied. This visit has motivated our young physicists to embark on a fascinating journey into the world of Physics.

A new academic year is a new beginning and the investiture ceremony sets the right tone during which the newly elected appointees of the school council are officially vested with their powers and positions and they take over the mantle of responsibility as the school’s new leaders. In doing so we develop their personality, skill and mind and help them emerge as models for others to emulate. This august ceremony was held on 24th June 2016.

Yoga is a mental, physical and spiritual practice that needs to be carried every day. International Yoga day was celebrated on 21st June 2016 in the school auditorium where the children got the chance to know how yoga embodies unity of mind and body. The students of classes VI – X performed Yogasanas between 9a.m to 10 a.m. Different yoga postures were performed under the guidance of the yoga teachers.

We hope to create an atmosphere of reverence for education and a healthy environment where academics, sports and co-curricular activities will mould our students and spur them on to be the brightest and the best. We inspire our students to question and learn by doing, we give them the skills, assurance and integrity to pursue their own dreams. By continuing to raise expectations, our mission of being a school of excellence will be realized and for making these dreams come true we need the constant support of the parents and I am sure parents will help us to take this school to greater heights.

Experience:

For us, the KVPY aptitude test was a new learning experience, as it was a major shift from the normal standard of questions asked to us. The exam was designed to test our ability to think logically and approach new situations. The questions were thought provoking and quite interesting to think about. Breaking the tradition, the KVPY interview was different because the interview panel members were interested in the methodology that one used to attain the answer and not in the answer itself. They were very supportive and encouraged us to think about new situations. Overall, it was a very interesting and unique learning experience that allowed us to expand our educational horizons.

Pasch Principal's conference Malaysia

The Goethe-Institut of the Federal Republic of Germany is also known as the Max Muller Bhawan. It is a non-profit German cultural association operational worldwide with 159 institutes, promoting the study of the German language abroad and encouraging international cultural exchange and relations.

The Goethe-Institut fosters knowledge about Germany by providing information on German culture, society and politics. This includes the exchange of films, music, theatre, and literature.

Principal, Mrs. Manju Sharma was privileged to attend the 7th Pasch Conference of School Principals in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.  A ‘PASCH school’ is a regular secondary school with a particular emphasis on the learning and teaching of German as an additional language. PASCH schools constitute a global network of more than 1,700 schools. ‘PASCH’ stands for ‘Schools – Partners of the Future.’ Funded by the German government, the PASCH network was initiated in 2008 in order to offer opportunities to the youth from around the globe to learn German and to develop a positive relationship with modern Germany. PASCH supports professional development training for teachers, provides language learning resources to schools, offers scholarships for students to study in Germany, and numerous other virtual and non-virtual exchange and collaboration opportunities, including global student newspapers.


It endeavours to promote German Language to the students with a global reach. The early start involves calling up all available resources in order to give children the best possible prospects for development in the foreign language learning process; this involves the emotional, creative, social, cognitive and linguistic dimensions of overall childhood development. But it also very much involves ‘intercultural communicative competence’.

Every year The Goethe Institute organizes a Principal’s Conference with the aim to inform the School leaders about the various German activities and programmes conducted at the regional and center level of the Goethe Institute.  In this way the conference empowers Principals of Pasch Schools so that they have a wider and broader vision of the Goethe Institute’s aim and objective that is not just teaching German as a foreign language but as an inter-cultural medium to prepare learners as Global citizens.

The learner’s foreign language competence is no longer measured solely against the linguistic competence of native speakers, but in terms of his or her ability to master the multiple and various tasks of intercultural communication. For the child learner, and in early foreign language teaching, the types of stimulus and educational content provided should form a basis on which the open-mindedness and tolerance of the intercultural speaker can find scope to develop. The early encounter with the foreign language must awaken interest in languages, foster enjoyment in language-learning, and motivate the child to converse meaningfully in a language not his or her own.


This aim had been the main theme of the 7th Pasch Conference which was "How to Approach School Improvement" and ‘Communicative approach to School leadership – Principal’s Perspective - for School Leaders attending from the South Asia region like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Iran, Singapore and Malaysia.

Dynamic learning oriented sessions like school governance, leadership, role of the school management, co-operative instructional development, Professional Learning Communities (PLC) as gold master and different approaches to reciprocal feedbacks were organized over the two days which were rich and diverse in learning and development.

This gave the Principals opportunities to interact with each other and share their best school practices.

The resource persons of the conference are Claudia Maul- Director Language Programme South Asia, Carl Jochen Dill- Head of Educational service, Olav Schroer- Project Manager PASCH South Asia, Christian Buchberger – Department Head of Head of staff Development, Bremen Institute for Teacher Education, Mark Bartholomew- Principal Oxford International School Dhaka and Damayanti Mukherjee - Principal Modern High School for Girls, Kolkata.
