From the Principal’s Desk

Principal

As we begin the new academic year, I urge all my students and staff to commence the new session with renewed commitment, doubling our efforts to achieve excellence. I would also like to take the opportunity to extend a warm welcome to you all.

Education can be likened to a great big canvas and this year we would like our students to throw as much paint as they can on the canvas of their education. I appeal to the students, the parents and the teachers to value and uphold the importance of intrinsic motivation. I am sure that our students will make the most of the canvas of opportunity that they are offered and they will paint the goals that they aspire to. I have no doubt that if they remain motivated in the classroom, they will certainly achieve their goals. Their education is sound, creative and innovative and Delhi Public School, Bangalore South, together with the parents and the students themselves, will help to make this a reality.

Our School is unique because of our belief in excellence, in honing of each individual’s talent and capability so that we can make them shine. It is unique because of our belief in leadership, individual excellence balanced with collective performance. Albert Einstein once said, “Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.” And therefore with knowledge and education it is our attempt to give our children all the tools to be able to manage this overwhelming sea of information and the freedom to discover and continue with their life-long learning process.

Education also means learning to think for yourself, learning to see other people's points of view, learning not to be frightened of uncertainty or difficulty, learning how to live in society, learning how to be a good citizen, learning how to be self-reliant. Education needs to prepare children for the real world – children need to show initiative, to be able to work as a team and to develop great communication skills. Developing the ability to think creatively is very important as well as having the curiosity to explore areas of interest and excitement.

The next belief that I want to share with you is my faith in the value system and this I believe is the corner stone of an individual’s existence. Living in truth takes courage and so you have to be brave. It means taking a stand for your beliefs. The whole enterprise of education is linked with the development of values. Devoid of the potential to nurture values, education loses its heart and soul. Value education helps to provide a road map to guide children along a route to live a life based on moral principles which are important both in the individual as well as collective context. We teach and nurture the children in an environment that ensures that they are motivated to learn and achieve academically; contribute responsibly and ethically to their family, school, and community; acquire a basic set of skills, work habits, and values as a foundation for a lifetime of meaningful work.

So let me wish you all the very best of luck as you embark on a new journey. Let's continue to work together to help each other to be our best for the world!
